Summer Camps

Aboriginal Art Camps

This one week camp features aboriginal arts such as soap carvings, medicine pouches and beading, led by the “SD#20 aboriginal cultural coordinator” Bonnie Vickers. Children will also take part in storytelling utilizing the “Learning Journey Series” that is an antiracism /anti-bullying program. This is a very popular program with limited space.

Dates: August 8 – 12th

Ages: Completed grade 3 to completed grade 6

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location : Blueberry School

Cost: $25/week, free for children with aboriginal heritage. Subsidies available

 

French Language Camp

Thinking about going into French immersion or learning more about the French language? This one week camp features cooking activities, art related to French artists, and a theatre component. There will also be nature walks, French games, swimming, as well as lots of laughter and fun. Limited Space.

Dates: July 25 – 29th

Ages: Completed grade 3 to completed grade 6

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location : Trail Middle School

Cost: $25/week, free for children with aboriginal heritage. Subsidies available.

 

At Risk Youth Camp for Boys

This free camp for local at risk youth provides challenging outdoor adventure activities including kayaking, hiking, rock climbing and horseback riding in a fully supervised, safe, supportive and positive environment. Includes lunch, snacks and all equipment. A partnership with Freedom Quest.

Dates: July 11 – 15th

Ages: 12 – 18

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location : Blueberry, participants will be picked up and dropped off at their homes.

Cost: Free

 

Aboriginal Girl’s Youth Camp

This free camp for aboriginal girls will feature aboriginal arts, cooking and storytelling. Girls will participate in a fun week of activities while working on social skills and learning about healthy lifestyle and relationships. Includes lunch, snacks and all supplies

Dates: July 18 – 22nd

Ages: 12 – 18

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location : Blueberry, participants will be picked up and dropped off at their homes.

Cost: Free

 

Summer Day camps

Join us for a summer day camp experience. Children will participate in games, crafts, field trips, swimming, hiking and adventure all in a safe, nurturing environment. Each week is based on a theme.  Children can still attend summer reading program or any number of camps at the school as well.  This is licensed child care program so government subsidies are available.

TIME: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. or any portion of the day depending on parents schedules.

Summer Reading Program

The summer reading program will return again this summer. This program is for children ages 3 to 12.  It is a theme based program, this year the theme is “Savour Each Word”.

Each week will feature a theme: The aim of the program is to encourage reading as a summer activity.  The program will run from July 4th – August 12th 2011.
